Hello everyone. My name is Merrin O’Connor, and a little over a month ago I ran home to Zeta Tau Alpha. During recruitment I wanted to keep an open mind, but having my older sister in ZTA I told myself that I would do something different. I wanted my own thing. As you all can tell that is not how it worked out.
During recruitment I started to notice that the women in zeta were not only people I wanted to be friends with but people I looked up and would help me become a better person. On bid day they handed out our envelopes and told us to sit on them. Well, I accidentally saw through the envelope. All I saw was a shiny blue crown.
When we ran home, I saw they amazing women who prefed me holding my name on a blue butterfly. I was so happy, I am pretty sure I was the first person to run off the bus. I ran up to her and gave her a huge hug.
Fast forward a few weeks later after things have settled in, It was time for a big little reveal. I was so excited to find out if my bid day buddy would be my big, her name is Maria. When I got my first big basket there was a note that gave me a clue, and it said “I do not live in the house.” Maria is the house manager so I was like omg she is not my big. When it came time to find out who was my big, I was nervous because I had no idea who else it would be. Then when I turned around to see who it was, and IT WAS MARIA. I was so excited and could not believe it.
All in all, Zeta Tau Alpha has already made me a better person. I have met so many women who I know will soon be my best friends. I want to thank all the women in Zeta for all they have done for me and what they will do for me in the future. I am so happy that I ran home to Zeta on bid day. I am so glad the women in Zeta proved me wrong. I am so happy that I ran home to my sister. It was so special and I will remember that moment forever. Like Hannah Montana said, “You'll always find your way back home.”
ZLAM,
Merrin O'Connor
